Written on 11-19-25.
I am chilling on our bed in the late afternoon on a Wednesday. It’s 4:23, and it is already starting to get dark outside. It is a mostly cloudy today, though. Our new Jaspr (1 of 2) is humming away on level 3 scrubbing our air. We chose to buy two after listening to a podcast where the CEO was interviewed. It was very convincing. I am desperate to breathe through my nose at night, and he said Level 3 can stop snoring and the effects of seasonal allergies. We shall see. We have 30 days to try them out and then either keep them or send them back.
Belinda doesn’t like noise at night, though, so we have turned it to Smart Mode at that time. It’s bad enough for her to have my oxygen machine pumping away in her closet. Man, I am a mess, but I am doing...
much better than others. Our Jaspr would turn orange and come on with a pink noise sound on Smart Mode, though, because I was using our humidifier. Turns out it was detecting the gross mold that was blowing out of it with the moisture, so I detailed it using vinegar, SOS Pads, and a scraper yesterday. It was better last night. I had it on Level 3 (B is gone on a trip), but it didn’t turn from green to orange like it had before when it was on Smart Mode. I also started using filtered water instead of tap.
One more thing about my breathing…I have moderate asthma. After my latest pulmonary visit, I learned that my lung function is at about 60% where most people have 80-100%. I think he told me that before, but I blocked it out. Sigh. Lord, please help me make it to 59.
Speaking of making it to 59, I had to move my workout with Matthew to Friday, since he was busy today. I did a Rypstick workout instead. More on that when I switch to golf.
Belinda and Amanda are with Jess in Colorado Springs. We just heard a bit ago that Jess’s surgery went well. She had a carotid neck artery cleaned out today. They might be able to come home tomorrow, but I am betting on Friday. Once again, we shall see.
Before I write about golf, I am going to go take a shower to wake up a bit and get that refreshed feeling. Be right back.
On to golf…
I redeemed myself by playing alone at Riverview last Monday. Pinon Hills is closed all day on Mondays now, so I decided to drive the extra 20 minutes to play in Kirtland. It was wonderful to play alone, and I even had the young man in the pro shop re-grip my Rypstick while I played. The nine holes and the re-gripping cost $25.00. So worth it.
Without any warm-up, and using the new “flying thumb” trick, I smashed my drive to the middle of the fairway from the whites. With my driver, I have been pulling my right foot back an inch or two and trying to swing more in to out. It still looks horrible on video, so over the top. I saw it when I practiced at Hillcrest later that week, but the results were good. I had many good drives up the left side of multiple fairways. Many were within 100 yards.
I managed to shoot a 43, which would have been plenty to beat Herman (not his real name) the last time I played with him, especially with his generous six strokes. It just was a relief to be able to score again. I had four pars, four bogeys, and one triple bogey. I will write about this a little more tomorrow.
Jess is out of her surgery and doing fine. She is a little nauseous, but that is to be expected. I have been betting that they will spend the extra night and come back on Friday. Once again, we shall see.
Until next time…
