End of 2020 Update-Not a Bad Year Actually

Written on 12-29-2020.

It’s a Tuesday, and I am working on my To Do List for the end of December.  I’ve accomplished a lot.  I completed this year’s Prezi, made two doctors’ appointments, and now I am writing in here.  That’s also on my list.  I was writing about what I had learned from Luke last time.  Yesterday, I paid for the Escape’s registration and painted our shower rod.  It was pretty rusty, and it looked so much better when it was all done.

Dinner is almost ready, however, so I don’t have much time to write.  Jess is coming over in a few minutes, so I hope to come back later.

I am watching Todd again with his winter golf series, and I am on Part 3 today.  He did a promotion for the...

Wrapping Up the Year 2020

Written on 12-12-2020

It’s a historic day, because today is the day that vaccines are being sent out across America for the first time.  It is strangely ironic that 80% of ICU beds are being occupied at the same time, and we are far from the end, but this does sound like the beginning of the end.  Healthcare workers will receive it first, and that is a good thing; they deserve to work without the fear of getting Covid-19.  So happy for Becca and her friends/co-workers.  They deserve protection.

On this historic day, I actually went to Aztec Urgent Care, not for Covid-19 symptoms, but for a possible ear infection.  The service provider told me that my left ear did look infected, so she prescribed some ear drops.  She told me it looked like swimmer’s ear.  I took the first dose (4 drops) this afternoon, and I will take my second one tonight before I go to sleep.  I am hopeful it will help soon, because it smarts.

We put up our third ceiling fan for our anniversary today, the one in the living room, and they all look fabulous.  James was instrumental in helping us get them up and spinning.  All three of them are up and running now, and we have said...

Playing With a Beginner Revelation

Written on 11-14-2020

This is cool.  I just woke up at the cabin home, showered, gathered all my vitamins and pills, poured my h2orange and a coffee, started the broadcast from the Masters from Thursday, and settled in to the glider rocker next to an already going fire.  I am alone, because everybody else is taking a walk with Kody.

On to more golf…

I played 15 holes yesterday.  When I arrived at the course, a man who was doing a fundraiser just outside the pro shop told me the news.  The governor has decided to shut down golf courses in the state again starting Monday.  Bummer.  I am upset that it cuts into my membership, but they did extend the last one when this happened before, so I bet they will do it again.

I didn’t plan on playing 18 holes, but when I heard that, I decided to play as many as I could.  Two others joined me, and I actually knew one of them.  It was...

5-iron vs. 6-iron, Masters in November, and a Rare Birdie

Written on 11-1-2020.

It’s another Sunday, and I am seeing a pattern here.  I find time to write on Sunday afternoons frequently.  I feel like I need to get caught up on some things.  I played with Mike Goen last weekend, and it was fun.  It was just the two of us, and I shot a 106 with some handicap 7’s mixed in there.  I earned five bogeys and two pars during that round.

I played nine holes after a practice session at the range one night, playing until it was just past dusk.  That also had mixed results.  I think I had a few bogeys and maybe one or two pars, but I can’t remember, and I didn’t keep a score.  When I played two days ago with Shawn, Tim, and Dan I shot a 110, and I earned six bogeys and two pars.

That’s the pattern with my rounds lately, not that I have been playing a lot.  I have a couple of pars, five or six bogeys, and the rest are blow-up holes or handicap 7’s, and that actually makes sense to me.  As I learn this new swing on the golf course, I frequently muff it up off the tee, and then I try to recover from there, and I am usually unable to do so, so it results in a terrible score.  When I do it right, however, that’s when I get a par or a bogey, because I get off the tee, and I get it closer to the targets I am aiming for, so I get a decent score.

When I was at the range yesterday, I had success, but I was
