Arccos Advice

Written on 4-28-24.

James and Casey came through Aztec this weekend and dropped off Ekko along the way.  They were going to Durango to celebrate Cory Saxon’s 30th birthday party.  Ekko was great, and he really is grown up now.  He weighs nearly 80 lbs., they said.  Kody was exhausted after he left this morning, and he took a long nap in the cool dirt in the backyard.

I will work two more days this week, and then I will be done for the year.  Belinda is continuing on, of course, but she is excited that the month of May is starting.  She is outside pulling weeds by Baker Street, our little camper, as I type this.  I feel guilty, but it’s a Sunday, and she is happy.  I think she is.  Pulling weeds can be cathartic, and I would do it later this week, but she couldn’t wait.  Hmmm, she can be stubborn at times.

On to golf…

I played twice at Pinon Hills recently, both times from the blues.  I played nine holes on Thursday last week after running some errands.  One of those errands was paying for my GHIN in order to get that started before the Across the Border Golf Extravaganza tournament next weekend.  Then I played yesterday with Herman (not his real name) and Shawn.

Tomorrow, I am playing tomorrow with...

Our First Golf Trip Really Blew Us Away

Written on 3-14-24.

I am watching The Masters on a Sunday, and the final group just started the back nine.  I have about two hours of wonderful golf and writing.  How rare!

Belinda and I just came back from Father Raja’s 20th anniversary luncheon at Holy Trinity.  He came to Aztec during the pandemic after the sudden death of Father Badger.  He was so thoughtful to ask me to invite Belinda.  He is always asking about her and my family.  Congratulations, Father.

Back to golf…

I watched some of the action at The Masters on Friday, and it was reminiscent of what the winds were like in Page.  I wondered how the pros would have handled the howling winds and gusts up to 40 mph, and I was able to see it.
They handled it better, of course.

It was always worse on the back nine when we were in Page.  Winds would gather speed as they came up and over the cliffs where the greens were, especially on holes 11 through 14.

Some of the most difficult things of playing in the wild winds were...

Windy Page and Greg's Electric Box Shot

Written on 4-3-24.

We leave tomorrow for our first golf trip…ever.  I have mostly packed, and Greg said he would drive his truck to make more room for our clubs and stuff.  I offered to drive, but the Jeep would have been too crowded.  I am so excited!

I am watching The Masters on a Saturday.  It was 12 years ago when Guy and I were there, so watching it will always hold special meaning for me.  Tiger has made the cut a record 24 times, and he and Tyrell Hatton are on the par five 13th on Amen Corner.

B just came back from Farmington, and she bought...

An Exciting Match to Get Ready for Lake Powell

Written on 3-29-24.

B and I are at the Montezuma Canyon Ranch and Vineyards Cabin on Good Friday.  A and Jess stayed here first, and then A and E, and now us.  It’s beautiful and cozy here.  I’m feeling content and contemplative.  B is on the bed talking to Amanda on her phone.  We are staying tonight, too, so we will have one full day.  I am sitting at the dining table where there is plenty of light.  It’s a windy day, darn it, but it has the makings of an excellent environment for writing.

I will start by writing that I have gained four more days of work after some finagling.  Cathy called to let me know they were extending my contract, and I am thrilled about that.  Now, Belinda might be able to help me with some of that spring cleaning I wrote about above (wink, wink), and we will have some extra spending money for summer.

Danielle has survived another...
