If Tomorrow It All Fell to Pieces...

Written on 3-11-16.

It’s 7:16 PM, and Belinda is driving toward Walsenburg.  We are heading to Colorado Springs to hang with the Lamberts tonight and tomorrow morning.  Emily is flying back to Prescott after brunch, but their entire family will be together for a short time.  Then we will head to Mom and Dad’s for the rest of the weekend, because…we can.  Dad is having digestive issues, and he had two procedures this past week to figure it all out.  Hopefully, we can help out in some ways while we are there.  We will also get to see Joe, and as a special bonus, my high school English teacher, Becky Porter, on Monday before heading home.  She was the one who put me on my path to becoming a teacher.  I am so looking forward to seeing her and having Belinda meet her, too.
In other news, it’s highly likely I have...
asthma.  I went to the pulmonary specialists in Durango today to have my lung function tested.  The lady who administered the tests was fairly certain it’s asthma.  It might be allergy induced, or sports induced, but I’ve been having a heckuva time with breathing and coughing attacks since the end of October.  I was prescribed an inhaler with albuterol (one doctor thought I had bronchitis, but that isn’t it because it lasted way too long), and that has helped me survive from day to day (and night to night), but I’m using it more and more often, and that’s bad.  Some days, I will use it three times during the day, and it’s pretty standard to use it two times during the night.  Ugh.  As if we don’t have enough going on with Belinda’s MS.  I purchased an Eagles song recently, Take it to the Limit, and this line really sticks with me: “If tomorrow it all fell to pieces, will you still be mine?”
Everything has already fallen to pieces, more than a few times, and we are sticking together.  I’m not going anywhere.
The children are all on spring break as of today.  Danielle, Becca, and A.J. are heading to southern Texas and South Padre Island as I type this.  They just texted that they had a flat and had to put on the spare.  They are heading to a Walmart to replace the tire or get some new ones.  James is staying in Las Cruces to work; he’s working right now as host at Lorenzo’s.  He’s happy to stay and work and earn as much money as he can during the break.  Kyle is heading north with his “girlfriend” Katrina.  They’ve planned a trip to Washington together.  He was excited about it when we spoke on FaceTime yesterday.
I played 15 holes at Hillcrest today after my appointment and a delicious breakfast at Carver’s in downtown Durango.  I thought I would be able to get in 18 holes, but they are only using the front nine for play while they work on the back nine, so the front was super crowded.  Play wasn’t slow, though, surprisingly.

I played well, and I have two new birdies to report.  One happened after C.J. left after taking his 70th stroke for his 70th birthday.  It came on hole #18 again.  That hole is becoming similar to hole #14, a real potential for a birdie type of hole.  The other happened today on hole #5 at Hillcrest, the last hole I played before going to pick up Belinda.  Gotta go!  Time for me to drive again.  Drive our car, that is.
