35th Excerpt From My Golf Diary! A Writing From the First Day of April Posted on the Last Day of April...16 Years Later

Written on 4-1-02.

It’s official.  I am now a member of the PGA tour.  You can call me a true professional golfer.  Okay, okay, you got me.  It hasn’t happened yet, and it’s really April Fool’s Day, but it sure sounds conceivable to me.  Do you believe I can do it?  I do.  People, for the most part, become what they think they will become.  I was just reading again from Dr. Bob Rotella’s book, Golf is not a Game of Perfect, about the power of dreams.  My dream is alive and well.  I think about it every day. When I go to bed at night, just before I fall asleep, I see and visualize myself playing great golf.  I picture myself sometimes walking up the eighteenth fairway with a two stroke lead or better in a Senior PGA Event.  I am relaxed, happy, and having fun.  It will happen.   I will persevere.  With this coming summer off, I plan on practicing and playing more than I ever have.

How We Help Our Earth

Written on 4-22-18.

I am back at the Abiquiu Inn…again.  I was just here this past Wednesday and Thursday for my regular monthly 2-day visit, but this time I have the RDA Site Visit tomorrow, my last one this year.  I’m sitting out on the patio again, and I have my laptop, some new cheap, black, plastic readers that I just bought at Bodes, and a Dr. Pepper and some water.  I wouldn’t have bought the readers, but I forgot and left all of my other ones at home, and I really need them to read the small print on the interviews and the rubrics tomorrow.  They were only a bit over $4.00.
It’s Earth Day!  Happy Earth Day!  Belinda and I continue to have a small environmental footprint compared to most people, but I know we could do better still.  We have been very good lately about...

What Do I Want?

Written on 4-14-18.

Danielle is here for the weekend, and the main purpose of this visit is for her to go to her first day of work in Pagosa Springs on Monday.  She will meet the others, get a tour of the place again, and observe some of the fitness trials.  She plans on driving back that same day, though, because she thinks she will be done by noon.  We are having a potluck dinner for her in about 49 minutes, so I am taking advantage of that time to do some writing.
I have much to write about, so I am going to get started.  First, Patrick Reed held on to win the Masters.  He made a gutsy two-putt on the 18th green to seal the deal on his first green jacket.  I learned a few things about him after this major win.  He does not...

444th Post-My Sunday Watching the Masters

Written on 4-8-18.

It’s a Sunday at the Masters, but Guy and I are not there this year.  That was six years ago now, and with every year that goes by, I long to return.  It’s looking like a different Patrick’s year at the Masters, Patrick Reed’s.  He is leading at 14 under and he and Rory are finishing up the front nine as the final group.  Jordan Spieth just raised his arms above his head in a small victory gesture after safely getting across the water at Amen Corner on hole #12.
I’ve been selfishly watching the Masters in my living room since it started on Thursday.  What a lazy bum!  I simply go to masters.com, and I watch the featured groups.  Although I am not at the tournament, I am free from the crowds, the cost, and the commercials.  The picture quality, especially with our recent internet upgrade, is crystal clear at times.
Wow!  Jordan just made his putt from off the green on #12 to take the position at 2nd place all by himself.  Maybe Jordan can work up some more Masters magic this year.
Daryl and Katie had their beautiful baby...
