Becca had her baby boy today! Her water broke at 3:30 AM, and she and Matt called me on FaceTime after he had been born. He was sleeping on her shoulder while we talked. So cute! I asked how they were doing, and they said they were all doing fine. He struggled a bit to cry at first, but that was the only worrisome part. I’m so happy! Becca and Matt have had their first baby! I also get to type Becca’s name in this journal again, so she will be thrilled with that.
It’s truly official now. I am done with work for the ’23-’24 school year. I turned in my final travel reimbursement and invoices this week, and we only have a couple of superficial meetings left. It feels good to have...
eight years under my belt with the CORE. I am very thankful for this job.James just got offered a new position at Pom’s, because someone else left the company. Not sure what it is, but I’m sure we will hear the details soon. He sounded a bit overwhelmed when I texted him about it today, but he’s got this. I believe in him.
Danielle is surviving…still. She completed the “claustrophobic” part last week, but she struggled with it. This week, she has a lot of medical information to learn, but it sounds like she isn’t being “wrecked” every day like they were at the beginning. I am excited for her, because she has looked forward to Becca’s baby more than most of the family (except A and E), and now he is here! We don’t know the name, because Becca and Matt are waiting to tell everyone. Not sure why, but hey, it’s their baby.
On to golf…
Greg and I took 7th place in the Across the Border Golf Extravaganza this past weekend. The force/fourth of May wasn’t with us. Of course, we had hoped for better, but it didn’t work out. At least we didn’t take last place. We were in the third flight, and it had eight teams. We scored a net 69 on the first day at Pinon Hills, and we were only four strokes shy of the two leading teams. One of the leading teams played with us (sort of) on that first day, and we could see why they were leading.
We played with Kevin and Ryan. Well, for the first five holes we only played with Kevin, and then Ryan joined us. He had some delays flying back from a business trip to Mexico. Then he got delayed again from Denver to Durango. He ended up starting on hole #6.
Kevin did so well without him, however. Greg questioned if he was a sandbagger, and I could see why. He scored seven pars in a row! For the first six holes, he didn’t even use his driver. It was fun to watch, and I was sad when he lost the streak with a bogey on hole #8. When he got his par on #7, I was more excited than Ryan. He made an incredibly long putt to get that one.
Kevin was great. I really enjoyed his company, and he was saying all along that his play for those seven holes was atypical for his game. I took my hat off, and he mirrored me, as we held a moment of silence for the end of his par streak next to the green on #8.
