Ledges Golf Course-Part 1

Written on 9-14-25.

Okay, I forgot to bring our MacBook, so I didn’t get to write about anything at Snow Canyon.  That’s the first time I didn’t bring our laptop while camping.  Instead of writing, I watched a DVD in our camper one day.  It was Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, and it was fun to watch again.

It’s another Sunday, and I am listening to the Denver Broncos vs. the Indianapolis Colts.  It’s past halftime, and the Broncos are leading 28-20.  I just cleaned my clubs again, and B is relaxing on our back deck.  The weather has been steadily getting cooler, and we received plentiful rain in Aztec when we were at Snow Canyon.  We saw debris on

our road as we pulled up to our house, and the "Kody" dirt walking paths were smoothed out and groomed from all of the falling and rushing water.

Danielle has made it through her first week of the 104th Academy.  She survived, but she felt cruddy all weekend; one of the cadets had Covid but came to work anyway one day.  He did wear a mask, though.  We don’t know if she has it, but we are hoping she feels better by tomorrow.

We will get to see James, Casey, and Rowan this Thursday when we go to watch Rowan on Friday.  That will be fun!  We have seen recent videos, and he is becoming a cuter, little man, for sure.

I have the possibility of getting a new instructional coaching job through CREC.  I spoke with Cammie (last name), and she is working as a UDL (Universal Design for Learning) Coach, and I called out of curiosity after Jess spoke with her about what she does.  It sounded very similar to what I was doing with the CORE.  I happened to call just before they found new/more funds for another coach.

I then got the e-mail for the director, Janae, from Cammie, and I sent a quick summary of my career.  She replied, and she said to get my cover letter and resume ready, so I got that all done and ready for tomorrow.  We will see if anything comes from it.

On to golf…

Eric and I played at the Ledges Golf Course, which was only ten miles away from our campground.  It took a bit to figure out when we were going to play, because Eric wanted to make sure he got all of the exploring out of his system before he played golf.  I told him that I would play without him on Thursday in the afternoon, our last full day there, if he chose not to play.  That caused him to make a decision, and he said he would go play.  Phew!  I was happy to have him on board, but I would have gone without him.  That’s one of the things I enjoy about camping: going to see and play new golf courses.

It was a beautiful course, and we got a super deal, because we waited until after 3:00 (our tee time was at 3:11).  The cost went from $140.00 each in the morning to a very reasonable twilight fee of only $50.00.  That was for 18 holes, a cart, a free water bottle, and as many range balls we could hit before we started.  Teeing off so late in the day also helped to make the round cooler.  As we played, the temperature continued to get more and more pleasant.

Eric came up with a new game.  We used the handicap numbers for each hole as the points we could earn if we won the hole.  He added ten points for long drives on par fives and closest to the pins on par threes as bonuses.  It was fun and different.

To sum it up quickly, I did better.  I won all the points on the front nine except for the #1 handicap hole, so Eric did earn one point on the front nine.  I also won three of the bonuses on the front side.

To be continued...
