Midsummer Musings and Merriment

Written on 7-16-17.

I am half-watching Matchstick Men on Netflix.  Earlier, I witnessed Bryson DeChambeau win his first PGA Championship, the John Deere Classic.  Good for him.  Amanda Balionis, the one who interviewed him right after he learned he had won, asked if this victory justified all of the hard work and the unique way he plays the game.  He said it did, and he mentioned that there are plenty of ways to do it (play golf), and whatever way you want to do it, just go for it.
I know this has been brief, but the movie is almost over now, and the Edgertons are almost here for a taco salad dinner.  Next time I write, though, I have two new birdies to report.  The first one happened at Pinon Hills when I played with Norm and Bruce.  We played the points game, and it was an exciting finish.  The other one came when I played with C.J. on Thursday after we had another session with the Special Olympians.  It came on the new hole #11.

Until next time…

I am sitting out on the deck at the cabin home.  It’s the first time we have had the Swope Family Reunion here vs. Grand Lake, and it’s been fantastic!  This spoiled, youngest son got his way by having everyone come his way this time.
     This morning, we went...
horseback riding at Rimrock Outfitters for two hours, and it was a gorgeous ride.  Having ridden before made it better and much more enjoyable; we all knew what to expect when it came to the actual riding.  We weren’t sure, however, what to expect with this particular company, but it turned out to be an older couple, Perry and Lynne, and they had a helper named Gail sp? come along, too, because our group ended up being a big one.  We had eight in our group (Bev, Curt, Guy, Annmarie, ShyShay, Belinda, Danielle, and me), and two more groups of three joined us for a total of 14.
Annmarie just came out to read silently with me, so we are parallel relaxing/having quiet time together.
Yesterday was “Mesa Verde” day.  The Virginia Swopes and Bev and Curt went to tour not only Balcony House, but Cliff Palace as well.  Mom, Dad, and I drove in to meet them between tours and bring them lunch.  After lunch, the three of us drove to Spruce Tree House to watch the informational movie they play there every half-hour.  When we returned, Belinda and Danielle came up here after Belinda had picked her up in Albuquerque way early in the morning.  Danielle returned from her Morocco Ubelong adventure and going up to Spain and England, and we are happy and relieved to have her back in the United States again.  She got in at 2:00 something in the morning, so Rich generously picked her up at the airport.  B left to go get her at around 4:45 AM.

Tonight, we are going to the Bar D Chuckwagon Show.  Until then, we are all just hanging out and doing our own things.  My “own thing,” of course, is writing.  I haven’t done this in a while, so I am particularly pleased and grateful to be here right now.
