Declutter, Declutter, Declutter

Written on 1-18-22.

I am sitting at our desk in the computer room.  It’s 2:55 in the afternoon, and Amanda just came over to pick up Misty.  She and Eric went to Silverton for a couple of nights for Eric’s 56th birthday.  I turn 55 tomorrow, and it’s Emily’s birthday today, too.  I am not sure how old she is.  I am betting it’s around 26?  She is pregnant with their first child, a boy.  I saw his little face in an ultrasound she sent me with through text.  Adorable!

I am doing a bit of decluttering here…again.  I did this a few years ago, but it’s a constant process.  I am taking inventory of all my Star Wars collectibles for the first time using the Under My Roof App, but I hit the pause button to make more room in the computer room closet for some of the books.  I had a long, plastic tub that held my Star Wars books, but many of the books were huge and heavy, so I could barely get it out of our crawl space.  Even with B’s help, we struggled to get it up to the daylight.

Because I want to keep them out of the crawl space now (no struggling in the future), I am working to find room in the closet, so I’ve done five days of (off and on) work to declutter that.  Good grief!  It’s amazing how much I have gotten rid of, because I know I cleaned it up a few year ago.  It has been mostly papers from the Bisti Writing Project, the Masters program, the dossier, and our older (past seven years) tax files.  We took the tax files to UPS today to have them destroyed.

Now, it’s later in the evening, and we are back from dinner at Red Lobster, a treat for my early birthday.  I usually celebrate my birthday for over a week or so.  We also stopped at Cold Stone, and I am stuffed.  It was creamy delicious, however.  I bought some new shoes at Dick’s, too.  I bought Brooks for the first time at Belinda’s suggestion.  They are very comfortable, but they squeak with my orthotics in them.

On to golf…

The wedge set from Kirkland never arrived, so B has asked for a refund.  The last time I checked, we haven’t heard if we got the refund or not.  Despite not hearing about that, I went ahead and got a new golf bag from TGW (The Golf Warehouse) as my Christmas gift, and I am super satisfied.  I have transferred all of my clubs and stuff over to the new bag, and I put the old Wishon bag with the garage sale items in James’s old room where we are staging stuff for when spring comes.

Continued Christmas Time Writing-Kirkland Wedge No Show

Written on 12-10-21.

I have a few updates after reading up on what I wrote before.  The tour of my old high school, Alameda, was super fun.  We got to see Coach Lewis and some other teachers/coaches.  Coach Smith was there, too.  We saw a several classmates, but not as many as I thought we would.  I bought a tumbler and made a donation.  I had just toured Alameda a few years ago for Time to Teach, so it wasn’t so new to me, but I did get to see the changes they had made in the past few years.  They got rid of all of the lockers along the hallway outside of the gym, and that means they above the lockers, because he was an all-state basketball player, and I saw it the last time.  It was the last picture at the end of the hallway, and it looked like someone had thrown a milk carton that exploded on it.  Now, it’s gone.  Soon, the rest of it will be gone, too.

Coach did let us know they are keeping the gymnasium, and that is a relief.  He boasted that it holds 4,000 people and it’s the largest high school gymnasium in the state.  They are keeping the auditorium, also.  Go, Alameda Pirates!

Christmas dinner was wonderful.  Joe, Tammy, Laura, Christine, and Barry came, and that made it all the more special.  Laura left early, but it was still so good to see her.  The Star Wars Gang was reunited once more, albeit briefly.  Daryl and Katie (and Adi) are expecting their new baby this Wednesday.  Katie sent us pictures of their newly remodeled bathroom today, and it got done just in time.  Her doctor thought it would be better to induce, because the baby girl has a head measurement with a high percentile.

Belinda gave me the new wedges for Christmas, but they have not arrived yet.  She e-mailed to see where they are.  I believe she ordered them directly from Kirkland.  I am excited about getting them, but there is no rush; it is not exactly golf weather here.

Belinda and Danielle are back.  They came much later, but B at least let me know, so I could find dinner.  They toured a home that Eric is looking at, so that is the reason for the delay.  They are snuggled up on the loveseat, and Danielle is looking at a home herself.  She is considering leaving early tomorrow to meet with her realtor and possibly get a tour.

I haven’t looked at PXG irons, but I have looked at Star Wars trading cards.  The irons can wait, but the trading cards piqued my interest after I saw a video on YouTube.  It went through a list of the original 1977 blue cards, PSA rated at a 10, and the value of each.  I have many of those, but they are nowhere near mint condition, and they would not get such a high rating.  The greatest value was over $7,000.00, so I started looking for lots for sale online.  B really wants me to organize my collection.

End of Year Writing Time-Lots of Returns

Written on 12-10-21.

I am on hold with REI, but it’s been a long hold.  I wrote that sentence an hour and 30 minutes ago, and I am still holding.  I am actually surprised to still be on hold.  I really don’t have to stay on the line, but I am curious how long can I stay on here before someone answers?  I can be so weird (and stubborn) sometimes.  Anybody else would have hung up an hour and 25 minutes ago.  I really don’t have anything else going on, though, and I have the speaker turned on in case someone answers.  B is visiting in the living room with A, Linda, and Carol.  They came over for a luncheon.

On to golf… (while still holding)

Neat date in numbers again.

I got distracted again and didn’t continue writing that day.  Imagine that.

It took me a while to get settled writing here.  I have a couple of hours until Danielle and Belinda come home from Mancos; they went snow-shoeing with Eric and Amanda today.  They are bringing me dinner from Chavolo’s!  I am getting my usual, Camarones Al Mojo De Ajo.  I chose to stay behind to have some downtime after finishing this year’s Prezi.

I have Star Wars music playing on YouTube on...

Christmas Plans and I Lose a Great Friend

Written on 12-5-21.

It’s 20 days until Christmas, and we plan on going to Red Lobster again in Lakewood on the 19th.  We will be attending the new Meow Wolf Museum before that, and Joe, Darrell, Guy, and I are going to see Alameda High School just before they tear it down on the 18th, too.  How sad.   My high school is going to be demolished.  Despite that, it’s going to be a fun Christmas season!  I know Darrell is trying to organize a Guys’ Night Out for the 20th, also.

B and I are watching the Broncos play the Chiefs on NBC.  It’s the Sunday Night Football game, so we can watch this one from our bedroom.  Or, I am watching, and B is reading.  I just checked, and Viktor Hovland won the Hero World Challenge today.  He had back to back eagles on the final nine holes.  Impressive playing there.  It’s been exciting to hear about Tiger Woods and his recovery, also.  He was interviewed and even made some swings on the range while at the tournament.

One more bit of news is that the patio home that is joined together with Bev and Curt’s is becoming available.  This just happened yesterday, because they noticed that Wilma was moving some furniture out.  She is 94, and she is moving into a smaller, more assisted living place.  Could Mom and Dad possibly move there?  We shall see.

On to golf…

What is the news here?  No...
