Club Championship Or...

10-21-12

I am sick again.  I’ve been sick since last Saturday when Belinda and I went to Red Lobster together for a date.  No, it wasn’t the Red Lobster.  Rather, I got the chills while there, and then the cold symptoms started.  I am choosing to blame Amanda, although I have no proof.  She had a cold similar to the one I have now, so that’s my story.
I slept ‘til past noon yesterday, a first for me for many years.  I went to sleep around 8:00 last night, and I slept all the way through until 9:00 this morning, too.  My body is craving rest, so I hope it helps.
The weekend after the golf team’s fundraiser tournament, we made a plan to...

go visit James down in Las Cruces.  We were craving some James; we wanted to see him right away.  I realized soon after our decision that that was the same weekend as the club championship.  So, I would not be playing this year.  I accepted it.  It was an easy choice.  Club championship or go see my son?  Easy.  We had not seen him since we dropped him off at the beginning of the school year.
We then learned that James could catch a ride here.  That would save us a ton of time and money.  The decision to play or not came back.  If he was coming here, we could afford for me to play.  If he was here, I could see him before and after my round on Saturday, I thought.  I even considered calling the golf course to set up a special tee time.  Again, though, I made the easy choice, the right choice.
Club championship or stay out late with Kyle and James to go see a movie together on Friday night?  Easy.
Club championship or spend time helping James with an online psychology test (it was open book and our discussion helped him choose his answers) on Saturday morning?  Easy.
Club championship or spend some last minute quality time with James on Sunday morning before he headed out again?  Easy-peezy, lemon-squeezy.
I love you, James.  I am proud to be your father.  I miss you when you go, but I know you are where you need to be.  Keep up the great work you are doing there, and we will see you at Thanksgiving.  Thank you for making the trip up here to see us.
